EATONTON (November 22, 2010) – Redeemer Episcopal Academy is gearing up for the holiday season
with the school’s annual “Christmas Week” festivities, set to kick off on Dec. 3 with the students’ musical
Christmas program at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church.
On Monday, Dec. 6, Redeemer invites the community to its campus for the annual Christmas Tree
Lighting Ceremony from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Santa Claus will arrive just in time to light the tree at 6:15 p.m.
and children of all ages are welcome to visit with Santa and share their Christmas wishes. Refreshments
will be available and free pictures will be provided.
Caroling will begin the following evening in true Christmas tradition as students travel throughout the
Lake Oconee community sharing songs of the season.
Throughout the week, students and families will be gathering gifts for two local families, selected by the
Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Greensboro, and food items in conjunction with the Lake Oconee
Presbyterian Church food drive.
“Christmas Week is always a special time for our students as they are able to demonstrate the values
of compassion and generosity that we constantly instill through our character development and faith-
based learning at Redeemer,” said Headmaster Dr. Trish Klein. “We always talk to our students about
being mindful of the needs of others, and this provides a wonderful way for them to join together with
their families and reach out to neighbors in need.” |
